What types of tea does FireFern sell?

FireFern carries a curated collection of high-quality loose leaf teas and handcrafted blends from around the world. Most teas are single-origin, while others are intentional blends that combine leaves from multiple regions for balanced flavor.

Are FireFern teas organic?

The tea industry treats “organic” as a broad marketing term, and standards vary widely between regions and suppliers. Many of our teas are grown using organic farming practices but are not third-party certified. Others are labeled organic by wholesalers without verifiable documentation. Because FireFern cannot independently certify every claim, we choose not to advertise our teas as organic in order to maintain consistency and integrity. Our focus is on quality, transparency, and accuracy rather than relying on claims we cannot personally verify.

Why do you sell tea only in small batches?

FireFern runs on a small-batch model to keep every tea as fresh, consistent, and high quality as possible. Tea loses character when it sits in storage for long periods, so carrying limited quantities ensures that what you receive hasn’t been sitting on a shelf for months. Small batches also let us rotate teas more often, stay flexible with global supply changes, and avoid overstocking during unpredictable harvests and tariffs. This approach keeps quality high and waste low, while giving customers a better cup every time.

Do your teas contain allergens?

All ingredients are listed with each blend. FireFern doesn’t use nuts, dairy, soy, or gluten ingredients, but trace cross-contact can happen at farms or processing facilities. If you have severe allergies, use caution.

Where are FireFern sourced?

FireFern sources teas from established growing regions around the world. Each product page lists the tea’s origin region and style, but we do not publish the specific names or locations of farms. Many growers prefer privacy, and some operate within cooperatives rather than standalone estates. Respecting that structure allows us to offer high-quality teas while maintaining the trust of our sourcing partners.

What payment methods do you accept?

Can I change or cancel my order?

How long do U.S. orders take to ship?

Most orders ship within 2–4 business days. During holidays or restocks, expect minor delays.

Does FireFern ship internationally?

Yes, but only under DDU terms. This means international customers are responsible for any customs duties, VAT, and import fees upon delivery. USPS is our international carrier. Orders can take anywhere between 1-3 weeks to be delivered.

What if my package is lost?

USPS usually resolves missing packages, but if they can’t, contact us so we can help investigate or offer next steps.

Do you offer free shipping?

FireFern runs occasional free-shipping promotions, but they are limited. Eligibility is shown at checkout or on promotional banners on our store page.

How is FireFern tea packaged?

All FireFern teas come in small, airtight, resealable pouches designed to protect freshness, aroma, and leaf quality. Each pouch is sealed with a gold tamper-evident strip at the top so you can verify that your tea hasn’t been opened or handled after packaging. The bags are built to keep out moisture, light, and air, helping the tea stay stable once opened. Our packaging is intentionally minimal to keep prices fair, reduce waste, and support small-batch inventory. While the pouches aren’t fully curbside-recyclable at this time, they can be reused for storage if you choose. As FireFern grows, we plan to explore sustainable options that don’t raise costs or compromise freshness.

Why don’t you sell teapots or accessories?

FireFern keeps its inventory lean so we can focus on freshness, quality control, and small-batch sourcing. Right now we offer only a few select items, like our gravity tea infuser and amber sugar crystals, because they’re practical, lightweight, and easy to stock without raising overhead. Larger accessories like teapots, kettles, and full brewing sets require more storage space, higher shipping costs, and a wider inventory commitment. We plan to add them in the future, but only when it makes sense for our small-batch model and won’t increase prices for customers.

Are all tisanes (herbal blends) caffeine-free?

Most herbal blends are naturally caffeine free, but some FireFern blends include ingredients like yerba mate or cacao that contain natural caffeine. Each product page lists the exact ingredients and caffeine level so you always know what you’re drinking.

How much tea should I use per serving?

Most FireFern teas brew best at about 2 teaspoons per 10 ounces of water. Leaf size can vary between teas, so the volume may look different depending on the style. Every tea we sell includes clear brewing instructions on its product page for exact measurements.

What temperature should I brew at?

Tea types need different temperatures. Each FireFern tea includes its correct brewing guidelines so you don’t burn delicate leaves or under-extract stronger ones.

How long does tea stay fresh?

Stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, most teas stay vibrant for 1-2 years. Herbal blends can last even longer.

How should I store my tea?

Keep it airtight and away from heat, humidity, and strong odors. Our sealed pouches protect the leaves well.

Can I return my tea?

For safety and quality reasons, we can’t accept returns on opened tea. If there’s an error or issue with your order, contact us and we’ll make it right.

My order arrived damaged, what should I do?

Email us with photos of the damaged items within 48 hours. We’ll replace or refund depending on the situation.

Are your teas taxed?

Loose leaf tea and sugar are tax exempt in Ohio. Blended herbal teas and physical accessories are taxable. Tax is calculated automatically at checkout if applicable.

Do you provide health claims?

No. FireFern does not make medical or therapeutic health claims. Any references to wellness are general background on how certain herbs or teas have been traditionally used, not proven medical statements. These descriptions are not meant to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. For anything related to health, customers should consult a medical professional.

A tea I want is out of stock. When will it return?

Restock timing depends on harvest cycles, import schedules, and tariffs. Some teas return regularly, while others have limited or seasonal availability.

FireFern also offers a small-batch request option. If a tea you loved is out of stock, discontinued, or was part of a sample you enjoyed, we can check whether it’s still available through our partners. If it is, we may be able to bring in a small quantity specifically for you.

Why does my tea taste different when I brew it at home?

Differences in water temperature, water quality, or steeping time are the most common reasons. Following the instructions on each product page helps keep your cup consistent.

Why does water temperature matter when brewing tea?

Water temperature affects how the tea leaves open and release flavor. Too hot, and delicate leaves become bitter. Too cool, and the tea tastes flat or weak. Every FireFern tea includes its recommended temperature so you can get the best flavor from each type.

What kind of water should I use?

Tea is sensitive to water quality. Clean, neutral water brings out the best flavor, while heavily chlorinated or mineral-heavy water can change the taste. Filtered water usually works best for balanced, consistent brewing. If your tap water has strong taste or odor, using filtered water will help the tea shine.

Product Information

  • All FireFern teas are intended for personal, food-grade consumption.

  • Always consult your healthcare provider before using caffeinated, herbal and wellness teas if you have medical conditions, are pregnant, nursing, or taking any medications.

  • We do not recommend minors consuming any tea with caffeine.

  • Store teas in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and moisture for best freshness. Our teas have a shelf life of three years.

  • FireFern is NOT liable for allergic reactions, misuse or improper storage of our teas.

Shipping Policy

  • Orders are typically processed within 2-4 business days.

  • Shipping times vary by carrier and may be affected by weather, holidays, or other delays outside our control.

  • FireFern is not responsible for lost, delayed, or stolen packages once marked as “delivered” by the carrier.

  • For International Customers

    FireFern currently ships worldwide using USPS International services. All international orders are shipped Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), meaning any import duties, taxes, or customs fees are the responsibility of the recipient upon delivery. These fees vary by country and are not included in the checkout total.

    Please note:

  • International delivery times vary and may take 2–5 weeks depending on destination and customs processing.

  • Tracking information may experience gaps once the package leaves the United States.

  • FireFern cannot guarantee delivery times and is not responsible for delays, confiscations, or losses caused by customs agencies or postal services outside the U.S.

  • All teas are shipped in sealed packaging and declared as “loose leaf tea / herbal infusion, not for planting.”

  • Health or wellness claims on our website are for general information only and may not meet labeling standards in all countries.

Sales Tax and Pricing

FireFern is based in Ohio and complies with state and local sales tax regulations.

  • Loose leaf tea and plain sugar are classified as grocery food items and are not subject to sales tax in most U.S. jurisdictions, including the state of Ohio.

  • Herbal blends, which contain ingredients such as flowers, herbs, roots, or spices not derived from the Camellia sinensis tea plant, are taxable under Ohio law.

  • Physical merchandise, including infusers, gift sets, and packaging materials, is subject to sales tax.

  • All products are listed in U.S. dollars.

  • FireFern reserves the right to change pricing or discontinue products at any time.

Applicable taxes are calculated automatically at checkout based on the shipping destination and item type.

Returns and Refunds

  • Due to food safety laws, we cannot accept returns on opened or used tea products.

  • We will gladly replace or refund items if:

    — You received the wrong item or your packaged was severely damaged during transit.

    — You contact us within 7 days of delivery with photo proof and your receipt and/or order number.

    — Non-consumable items such as tea makers & accessories.

Event Sales & Pop-Ups

  • All sales made at in-person events or pop-up locations are final.

  • We maintain all required Ohio Vender, Health and Mobile Food permits that are required for legal local operations.

  • Any on-site tea samples are served under safe and sanitary conditions per county health guidelines.

  • Customers assume responsibility for consuming any tea or samples provided at events.

Privacy and Data Protection

  • We collect minimal personal information (such as your name, shipping address, and email) to process orders and communicate with you.

  • Payment details are handled securely through trusted third-party processors (PayPal, Stripe, Square, etc.).
