Genmaicha
The Shadowy Slopes of Shizuoka, Japan

Believed to have originated in Japan in the 1920’s, monks would add toasted rice and popcorn to stretch their tea rations during times of economic uncertainty. This unique blend would end up becoming so popular it would later be dubbed as the “Peoples Tea”. Genmaicha delivers a full array of flavor of sweet umami, toasted hazelnuts and a light smoky finish.
Genmaicha contains high amounts of caffeine. Can be steeped for 2-3 infusions.
Ingredients: organic green tea, toasted brown rice, popcorn
Cultivar: Japanese sencha varietals
Brewing:
HOT : 2 tsp per 4oz (295 ml)
ICED : 4 tsp per 4oz (295 ml)
TEMP : 175ºF - 185 / 79ºC - 85ºC
TIME : 3 - 4 minutes
