Iron Goddess Of Mercy

from $3.00

Mystical Mountains of Mingjian Village, Nantou, Taiwan

(Tie Guan Yin)

Orchid | Silky | Roasted Chestnut

This highly celebrated oolong takes its name from a legend born in the hills of Fujian. A humble farmer is said to have cared for a neglected temple of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. Moved by his devotion, the goddess appeared to him in a dream and guided him to a hidden tea plant within the mountains. The leaves he cultivated from it produced a tea so fragrant and pure it became known as Tie Guan Yin — the Iron Goddess of Mercy. The tea became so prized that it lifted the entire village out of poverty.

The tightly rolled leaves open into a soft golden liquor with notes of orchid, honey, and roasted chestnut. Each steep reveals new layers of smooth, floral flavors.
